Samsung Sellout!

Billed as the largest product positioning deal ever, Samsung Sellout! has just launched in the states. Subtle it ain’t, but that’s part of the charm of this UGC campaign from Samsung - stick the Samsung Instinct phone into one of your home movies (using a transparent video tool as punters are unlikely to own the new phone yet), post it on YouTube, and if you’re one of the first 1000 chosen, you get $20. 

On the surface it sounds like an awful idea to me, but the humour kind of makes it work. Not sure it’s quite right for a high-end phone brand though.

I agree, possibly with a product that more young people could afford there would be better videos but I doubt the campaign will work out because there audience may not be able to buy the phones in the volume that they want.
