Twitter list

15 01 2009

Finally I’m starting to ‘get’ Twitter, which is more a function of finding people I’m interested in following than any ludditious tendencies on my part.

So I thought I’d share a selection of the interesting people I’ve started following, please feel free to leave more in the comments :)

Moviestorm - Pixar & Dreamworks beware

5 12 2008

Moviestorm

Ok perhaps I’m exaggerating a tad, but this is a pretty exciting little application, allowing you to create actors and sets in order to make your own animated movie. Some of the efforts from the community are reasonably alright, considering they were made with a free desktop application.

So with technology like Emily becoming a reality, how long until consumers will be able to create their own photo-realistic computer animations? Increasingly creativity and talent will become the only barrier to entry for yet another creative medium..

Samsung Sellout!

10 07 2008

Billed as the largest product positioning deal ever, Samsung Sellout! has just launched in the states. Subtle it ain’t, but that’s part of the charm of this UGC campaign from Samsung - stick the Samsung Instinct phone into one of your home movies (using a transparent video tool as punters are unlikely to own the new phone yet), post it on YouTube, and if you’re one of the first 1000 chosen, you get $20.

On the surface it sounds like an awful idea to me, but the humour kind of makes it work. Not sure it’s quite right for a high-end phone brand though.
